 Cooking with Venison in the South African Bush.
Soak up the atmosphere of the South African bushveld on this culinary weekend spent at a luxury, tented camp where the Big Five and learning to cook and enjoy venison, are part of the experience.
Venison is both a traditional source of meat as well as a sought after delicacy, and because of its low fat and heart-healthy attributes, it is becoming even more popular. South Africa's favorites include Ostrich, Crocodile and various buck. Under an experienced chef's instruction, you will learn more about the different cuts of meat - from saddle to shank - and how to prepare and cook venison over an open fire. Ideally we pair our venison with full-bodied South African red wines.
 Your accommodation is at Gwala Gwala, an exclusive and intimate owner-run tented camp. Situated close to the Greater Kruger National Park, this camp is raised above the bush on wooden platforms, allowing guests to get up close and personal with the pristine surrounds. Each of the en-suite tents is nestled in the shady riverine bush on the banks of the Klaserie River, combining privacy and comfort and is equipped to meet all your needs.
Enjoy an early morning guided bush walk amongst the animals or visit neighbouring reserves for afternoon game drives. Enjoy the wonders of the bush, magnificent African sunsets, and the haunting night sounds of Africa.

Transport to the reserve can be either self-drive or by charter plane and is not included in our normal pricing.
This trip can be done at any time of the year. But the best time for game viewing in this area of South Africa, is during our winter months (May to August) when the rains are less frequent.
